At Dysprosium Lab, we explore the fascinating realm of quantum matter by working with strongly magnetic atoms to investigate a novel quantum phase known as Supersolid. This unique state exists at the boundary between superfluids and crystals, combining the frictionless flow of a superfluid with the ordered structure of a solid. In the lab, we cool dysprosium atoms to temperatures near absolute zero, where their quantum properties become dominant, and they can be precisely manipulated using laser beams and magnetic fields. Every few tens of seconds, we create a superfluid with strong magnetic interactions and induce crystallization, allowing us to enter the exotic supersolid regime.
